This past month, WEEMA’s staff in Addis hosted some  of our outstanding Self Help Group (SHG) Volunteers from Tembaro. The group of women came to share their experiences about the Self Help Group structure and WEEMA’s work with empowering women. It was the first time for these women to travel to Addis and we are happy they had such a memorable stay.

Whether it was their first time having Pizza or staying in a 4 story building, the women had plenty  to share when asked what they enjoyed the most about their trip:

Visiting the town makes me very happy, the city is very colorful…”
-Abaynesh Abera, SHG Volunteer and Member

“I am amazed that there are very huge buildings in the city and it was beyond my expectation.” -Mulunesh Helebo, SHG Volunteer and Member

“I am surprised by the technology (ZOOM) that connects us from Addis with the people from the US. I am very happy to see the team through a video call.” -Birtukan Tesfaye, SHG Volunteer and Member

“I had pizza for the first time and wasn’t sure what the cheese was and if it was a good thing to eat.” -Zerfe Alaro, SHG Volunteer and Member
