Farsuma Kindergarten-Part 2

The building of the Farsuma kindergarten school is so awe-inspiring- I want to share more of their story with you. In my last email, I shared the story of eight women’s self-help groups joining forces to build a kindergarten in their village. These women learned about other self-help groups building schools for their children and decided to mobilize their community and make it happen!

WEEMA supports women's self-help groups organizing into larger "Cluster Level Associations". By forming a larger association, these women support and share experiences with one another, and create "power in numbers" when advocating for themselves to their local government. These amazing women made it happen!

Here are photos of some of the women that made it happen, including Tesfanesh (yellow scarf), the vice-secretary of the Cluster Level Association, and one of the volunteer teachers at the school.

Currently, the school has a total of 80 children enrolled, and children attend school Monday through Friday, from 8-11 am.
