Meaza Makes Sure Her Local Water Station Is Protected And Maintained

It's hard to miss Meaza with her bright smile and "can do" attitude!

As a water committee member, Meaza oversees the protection of the community's water station. She collects monthly fees (15 birr or $0.28USD) from community members, which is then invested in the safety and upkeep of the water station. Fees pay for a guard to protect the site. She opened a bank account to save for future maintenance of the station and hopes to eventually have enough saved to purchase metal fencing to protect the site.

Fees are determined with community input, and no one is ever turned away if they are unable to pay their monthly fee.
