As the end of the year approaches, we need your support now more than ever! 2020 has brought many challenges with increased need from our communities and the cancellation of our biggest annual fundraiser, both due to COVID. That is why a donation in any amount will make a real impact in our communities.

Today, we wanted to share a beautiful story of new-found communication created between a deaf child and her parents, thanks to your support that enables the work we do within inclusive education. Please read on to see the incredible impact of your donations!

“Because she’s deaf, she could not go to school. There were no educational opportunities for her. Now, she tells us in sign language 'In the morning, I will go to school.’ Now, we are also trained so we understand her.”

 -  Proud parents of Halima Abebe

Halima is among the many students of WEEMA’s inclusive education program who had no access to school due to the lack of disability inclusive curriculum in Kembata-Tembaro, Ethiopia. WEEMA’s introduction of inclusive education started with Mudula Primary School, thereby making it the first school in the Tembaro district to be accessible for children with disabilities.

Thank YOU for joining WEEMA as we work to ensure students with disabilities have equal access to education and opportunities!

Please consider a donation today.
