KEEPING WATER FLOWING IN TEMBARO
Building pipelines is just the first step in bringing water to communities in Ethiopia. WEEMA ensures the sustainability of water systems by providing cost-free training to local committees.
WEEMA has conducted trainings with two groups:
Water Management Committees: Each of the 44 committees sent three representatives to receive training from government officials on how to operate and maintain the water systems and prevent contamination.
Technicians/Maintenance Team: One individual from each kebele was trained to maintain water points and main pipelines when damage occurs.
The benefit of these trainings is twofold. Trained committees keep communities invested by giving community representatives ownership, and they ensure that water keeps flowing into the kebeles of Tembaro!
