Help Us Keep the Momentum Going
Thanks to your generosity, in just one week WEEMA raised one third of our campaign goal to support COVID-19 prevention efforts in southwestern Ethiopia. We are so thankful to our supporters who have jumped in to support our efforts during this crisis. The need is great and we cannot do this without your support. If you are able to donate now to our COVID-19 emergency fundraiser , an anonymous donor will match your donations to DOUBLE your impact.
As WEEMA continues to mobilize resources in prevention efforts, the Ethiopian government is also taking measures to reduce the spread of this virus. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed just declared a nation-wide state of emergency that includes new social distancing requirements such as banning the gathering of more than 4 people, closing non-essential travel between regions, etc. The government is working hard to curb the momentum of this virus and WEEMA is playing its part in this fight of solidarity.
Thanks to your generosity, we just completed another round of delivery of cleaning and medical supplies requested by the Kembata-Tembaro zone health department including infrared thermometers, water containers, face masks, gloves and alcohol. Our team is purchasing these items in Addis and delivering them to Kembata-Tembaro as many of these items are not available in the more rural areas. We appreciate our staff members in Ethiopia who are risking their lives by serving vulnerable communities in these times.
We are hoping to raise another $6,700 to meet our goal of $10,000 which will then be matched for a total of $20,000. We recognize these are very difficult times for all of you too. If you are able, we would love your support. Another way to help us meet this goal is by sharing this campaign via email or social media. Thank you for your continued support to enable our team’s efforts on the ground. We are so incredibly grateful for your support.
We hope you and your loved ones stay healthy and safe.
